NIGHTMARE OF EDUCATION

Education gives us knowledge of the world around us and changes it into something better. It develops in us a perspective of looking at life. It helps us build opinions and have points of view on things in life. As the notion goes education is the key to success. Many people value education and it has been into consideration that education is the background of child.

Education is important because it improves personal lives and helps societies run smoothly.  It helps us build opinions and have points of view on things in life. The world today requires literate people.

Education being one of the big four agendas of the president, the ministry of education in the country has done to its level best to make sure that the citizen acquires affordable education and that every child in the country has been able to acquire both primary and secondary education.

As for the now, the government has launched secondary education as free. This has not yet been evident since a lot of candidates are not able to join Form 1 classes due to lack of school fees. Many incidents have been reported of children who are crying out to well-wishers so that they can be able to join high school.

It’s sad when we see this, most especially to those KCPE candidates who had performed well in their exams. Though there are some well-wishers like, Wings to fly, they cannot be able to accommodate every child who is not able to join secondary school.

Even after the president gave orders that no child who did KCPE exams is supposed to be at home, and he instructed the area chiefs to ensure that, there is still a small percentage that have not yet gone to school. Even when such orders are made, they are useless, since you as a parent will have to obey the regulations of the school and what is expected from you must be accomplished.

Since education has become as a basic need to Kenyans and it being one of the big fours, the government should ensure that it delivers its best to the publics so that we can be able to eradicate illiteracy in our country.

Many promises have been made in regard of education but none of them have been achieved yet. In year 2013, the president promised that every child joining class one will be having his/her own tablet. This promise is still a nightmare to many since only a few tablets were brought in the country to launch the project and fool people and then people were supposed to forget about them.

Launching of the new education system, the CBC, brought a lot of chaos and disagreements between the ministry of education and the teachers union KNUT, who were against it. Why were there disagreements? May be the teachers union had or has fear that the system won’t work or it will fail because it is a trend in government projects which start with a high gear but Definetly it fails. It is the hope of parents in the country that the government will be able to implement on this project so that it won’t fail.

The government should up its game in this sector since it is a crucial sector in the country. If secondary education is stated out by the ministry in conjunction with the president, then teachers should stop asking parents to pay certain fee so as their children can access the secondary education.

It is painful when candidates, who have passed with flying colors, stay at home due to lack of fees and the government is there. It is a high time that the sector of education be given a second thought. Every child should not be delayed to join high school and yet the government is there. This is a call to the government to at least do one thing in accordance.

WHY THE INTERNET IS NOT YET A THREAT TO MEDIA.

The internet is a massive network of networks, a networking infrastructure. It connects millions of people globally through the use of computers and mobile phones. Many people have engaged in the use of internet and they seemed too impressed by it.
In journalism practice, internet has been embraced well though it has not yet been able to overdo the other forms of communication most especially the print. Journalists prefer to use the print due to its availability and reliability and it cheap.
The print has provided many incredible advantages in terms of advertising. Magazines, newspaper, leaflets and catalogues are more effective at targeting customers and making a lasting impression. Also print is a dependable source of information since it can be kept for future use and they have a long life span compared to the internet where the information cannot be relied on for future reference since the internet is prone to viruses which can dismantle the information.
The following are some of the factors that make print to be suitable to journalists:

*The accessibility
The internet also known as electronic media has not yet become a threat to the print media because it’s easy to access the print forms of information than it. Also internet has limited target audiences who are literate and in most cases situated at urban areas. People in rural areas can access the newspapers for instance, in an easy way unlike the internet. The aim of journalists is to reach a wide coverage and to everyone. Through the print they are able to do this since many people can get access to newspapers than the internet.

*The factuality
Many stories sent to the internet are not always based on facts but in the print journalists are able to do adequate research to their stories and they make sure that whatever is printed is based on facts and it will not mislead the reader. The internet may lack clarity, scarcity of explicit editorial policies for many sites, but the newspaper will always put in regard the editorial policies and the clarity of the story.

*Believability
People will tend to believe the stories in the newspapers rather than the internet. This is because the internet is full of fraudsters and fake news. There are only a less percentage of people that rely on internet publications. Also there have been a lot of scams in the internet where there are fake blogs of media houses thus making the print the suitable way to spread information because there will be no fake newspapers and each media station is known with its newspaper, for example, the Daily Nation of Nation media house.

*In-depth information
The print for example the newspaper is able to give the reader in-depth information of a story. The newspaper is able to dig deep and give each and every detail of the story. The print ill always make the reader feel satisfied unlike the internet which is limited in giving detailed information.

*Accuracy
The print will always regard the element of accuracy, where journalists are not prone in making mistakes. The stories go through a process of editing and re-editing where mistakes are rectified and others done away with. Unlike the print where the information will have a small percentage of accuracy.

Those are some of the factors that make the print media to be the best to use rather than the internet or the electronic media. Journalists will always prioritize the print due to its advantages both to the audience and the media house. Internet has not yet found its way to overdo the print.

MIS-HANDLEMENT OF POWERS AND EQUIPMENTS

Kenyan constitution gives its publics the righto conduct peaceful demonstrations. Demonstrations are one way of communicating.
Kenyans use demonstrations to express their views, opinion and feelings towards the government. They also use protest to expose the social crimes, insecurity issues and such things.
Residents of kasarani were deprived this right by police officers when they were protesting on the poor state of mwiki-kasarani road. Residents joined hands with the drivers to conduct the protest though they were not successful.
The police engaged the protestors in running battles where even the school children were caught in the cross-hairs. There was destruction of properties especially the shops. The shops in kasarani suffered a major blow after a section of protesting residents rooted their way there finding their way out in order to save their lives.
The chaos caused the deaths of at least three individuals. This attracted the attention of the secretary general of ODM, who voiced his concern about the volatile situation in kasarani.
Through his twitter handle, he warned police officers from using excessive force to contain protestors agitating for the renovation of the road. He denounced police actions on the area as totally irresponsible and they should take responsibility. Also added that the deaths of citizens protesting are on the police officers.
This is not the only incident that has happened in the country of police officers using excessive force on Kenyans. A lot of deaths have been caused by the irresponsible officers who use their equipment’s where they are not supposed to and where they are supposed to use them they do not. This is evident by looking at the case of baby Pendo who was shot dead by a police officer during the presidential demonstrations of the year 2017.
It seems like the police officers do not know how to handle their equipment’s and some of then take advantage of being in a possession of acquiring such equipment’s like guns. Cases of police using those guns to harass the public are here now and then yet no suitable action is taken. Those found with such recklessness should not be in a possession of having the gun. The privilege should be taken away from them.
Not only police officers mishandling their equipment’s but also they have been treating the public with brutality. Since the police think they are the superior ones, they tend to be brutal even where it does not call for. For brutality, not only the police who are involved but also those who work for the city councils. This has been seen especially in the county of Nairobi, where the city councils treat the hawkers with a lot of brutality.
The constitution states that every Kenyan citizen should be treated with respect and dignity but those in the authority do not adhere to this. The right to life is entitled to everyone and no one is supposed to take that right away from another person no matter who you are.
It’s a high time that the police officers know the value of life and treat everyone accordingly. They should also know how to use their powers collectively in order to minimize the death cases caused by police. Right to life is a major right in the constitution of Kenya and it should be respected.

NEW GOVERNMENT DIRECTIVES IN ISUING GOVERNMENTAL DOCUMENTS

The determination of the cabinet secretaries to do their work and deliver the best to the publics has been seen in Dr.Fred Matiangi the cabinet secretary of interior and coordination of national government. A day after their appointment Dr.Fred issued new directives on how the government will issue Ids, passports and birth certificates.
He said that these documents will be issued on the same day of application. The documents will be issued together at one time. This directive is going to be active starting on 1st July 2020. He also said that the ministry of interior will be committed in facilitating the delivery of convenient and quality governmental services to Kenyans.
The new measures also includes the automation of all government services and storage of citizens data in safe and easy way to access, this is through technological ways. The ministry of interior has been working closely with the Presidential Delivery Unit (PDU), to develop a service index.
The index will be launched before March 2020, where this index is intended to help citizens give their views on how services are delivered to them by individual government officers. Matiangi said that he will hold the county commissioners responsible for in particular immigration services, registration of persons and issuance of birth and death certificates in their counties.
County commissioners were also directed to ensure staff working at the ministry of interior was prompt and did not engage in corrupt practices while delivering services.
These directives have been made in order to try and reduce corruption cases among the government officials and also to ensure services delivered to the citizens are good, fair and commendable.

MODERN MARRIAGES

A covenant is an agreement between two people and it involves an agreement a promise or an oath in it. There are many covenants that are made but some of the promises made are never fulfilled. Marriage is one of the covenants made by people. And it is regarded as a covenant because when a person decides to get married there are some promises made also it is regarded as a holy covenant.
Many have chosen to defile this covenant and it has caused it to lose its meaning and value. Back then, marriages used to be respected and no one could ever defile that covenant. In the times of our great grandparents, anyone who could have defiled this covenant suffered dire consequences. Nowadays people have even lost interest in marriages and those involved in them do not adhere to the promises they made.
Cases of murder among families have increased with a high percentage. It’s either a man killing his wife and children, then kill himself, or vice versa. It has been evident that the respect which was there in marriages has been lost. There are only a very small percentage of people who are able to keep the promises and are bind by the agreement made.
Wealth, unfaithfulness, lack of understanding, patience, hypocrisy, jealousy, dictatorship, are some of the factors that have contributed to failure in marriages. Wealth has become the greatest monster because people do value money more than anything else.
In situations where the wife is the one working and she is responsible for the family needs she will disvalue the husband and start disrespecting him. Definetly this will not end well. This will cause chaos and even splitting up of the spouses. Men should be given their respect as the man of the house no matter the situation he is in, either working or not the respect of a man in the house should be maintained.
Misunderstandings are also a major cause of this. Spouses have given in, to minor things which cause disagreements among them and may lead to violence. Nowadays violence has become the solution to every problem that arises. People have decided not to sit down and discuss the matter and finally look for a solution to this. Rather than doing this, they have decided to raise voices on each other, fight, insulting one another or even killing each other.
The essence of engaging in a marriage has been lost nowadays and people are deciding to live on their own instead of encountering such problems. When one decides to get married he/she should make up his/her mind once and for all. When you decide to get married, be ready to encounter the ups and downs of being in a marriage.
People should know that marriages are not bed of roses, so there are some challenges to be encountered and in order to overcome them, it calls for; patience, understanding and most of all love. Let’s us try and bring back the sweetness of marriage and the respect of this covenant.

A MENANCE OF INSECURITY IN KENYA.

Being secure is one of the thing that an individual put into consideration. When there is no security there is no peace and order in a state. Looking at the situation in our country Kenya, there have been many incidence of insecurity. Both internally and externally.

Communities rise against other communities, receiving terror attacks, it have been a trend in our country. Alot of lives have been lost, property have been destroyed and people have sustained injuries. All this is due to the insecurities making the country ro experience tough times. Insecurity has also caused a depletion in the economy.

It all started with the Westgate Shopping Mall terror attack on September 2013 where four masked gunmen attacked the mall. 71 people died and approximately 200 others were injured. The Islamic group known as the Al-shabab claimed responsibility of the incident. Despite this the government took no action and it assumed that nothing had happened.

Kenyans thought that the government would up its game and tighten security measures, but it wasn’t like that. Another attack happened few months later after the westgate attack on June 15th to 17th 2014 at Mpeketoni. More than 60 people were killed. Again the group claimed its responsibility to the attack yet no action was taken only sending condolences to the victims.

Afterwards there have been various terrorist attacks like: the Garissa University college attack on April 2015 causing deaths of 148 people and more than 179 injured. The DusitD2 hotel attack on January 2019 causing 21 deaths and 28 injured. The Terrorism group, al-shabab, have claimed to be responsible for this attacks.

The government of Kenya have taken no action to minimize these insecurities leave alone eliminating them. Some of the erands in the country may be affected by this. For example the education operations most especially in Northen parts of the country. This is evident because of late the KNUT boss Wilson Sossion called upon all teachers in regions with insecurity to leave those places. This was due to the deaths of three tutors who were killed by terrorists in Garissa county. Definitely this will affect the education forums in those areas.

It is a high time that the government finds a permanent solution to this disaster or else the country will be facing this challenges now and then. An answer to this riddle of insecurity must be found

POLITICS IN KENYA

The country has been able to maintain a remarkable stability since 1963 when it got its independence. Kenyans have also been able to enjoy an increase in their freedom since the emergency of multi-party system in the country because they are able to exercise their democratic rights.

Mwai Kibaki emerged to be the winner of presidential seat in 2002. His ambitions were to, ensure economy growth, curb corruprion, improve education system and reinforce the new constitution. He was successful in changing the constitution in year 2010. This have not only been Mwai Kibaki’s ambitions but also the current president, Uhuru Kenyatta have adopted them.

Since then the three factors have been used by politicians to campaign for themselves most especially those vying for presidential seat. Mwai Kibaki campaigned for the seat using the same agendas. What of Uhuru Kenyatta, education, industrialization to improve economic growth, curbing corruption, etc.and currently he wants to change the constitution by implementing the Building Bridges Initiative(BBI)

These have been things that kenyans have been hearing now and then but no action have been taken to fulfill them. Mwai Kibaki was able to build the THIKA SUPER HIGHWAY which is the only thing that kenyas can related with his governance though it left Kenya with a huge debt. Uhuru Kenyatta has built the SGR which has also left Kenya floating with debts.

Realating to this scenarios it seems like the agendas are only meant for campaigning but after they get what they need no implementation is made.

Viewing the current government, at its first 5 years of governance, the government was able to transmit electricity to a higher percentage of citizens though it was for a period of time to please citizens though there were those who didnt benefit from it. It was also able to convince Kenyans that education is free but in relation to now it doesnt seem so.

The second ruling term of the Uhuru government things have become worse than ever. It all started with the “Handshake”thing which have splitted the government into two. Also it has led to the mocking and reduction of the governing powers of the Deputy President William Ruto who was an allie to the president but now viewed as his rival.

It is after this period that the counrry has experienced difficulties such as a hype up in corruption, division among politicians:kieleweke and Tangatanga, those who support the president and those on Ruto’s side. Lately we have seen this two parties fighting over and over again and leading to imprisonment of some Tangatanga politicians though they are released on bail. The strongest and powerful will always win the battle. It has been seen in our current governance.

Politics have been everything in this country. Everywhere you go, every radio or Tv station you tune in, online platforms, Everything has become politics.

The question is, Will our country be free from this slaverly of politics?

MIGUNA THE POLITICIA

Miguna is a well known person in the political field. He became famous in the year 2017 during the general elections of Kenya. Miguna political journey started early when he was in university at Naieobi University where he was elected as a student leader in 1986 upto 1987. The man didn’t start becoming a pain on the neck recently, but he started early in 1987 where he was sent to exile and expelled from the university because he championed on the issue of multi-party in Kenya. This was during the reign of Daniel Arap Moi.

Miguna Miguna was able to obtain a political asylum from Canada government after his release in 1988 where he obtained a Canadian citizenship.

The man acted as an advisor to former prime minisrer Raila Odinga in 2009. The battle of Miguna being accused of having two citizenship started in 2010 where the claims were that he is a foreigner because by the time he obtained Canadian citizenship, the kenyan law didn’t recognize dual citizenship.

Apart from being a politician he is an author too. He published a book known as “A quest for justice in kenya”, where he tries to exposed Raila as a pretender or an imposter.

In 2017 after the general elections Miguna alongside with his opposition leaders did not accept the defeat of their leader, Raila and they filed a case in the High court of kenya. The court ruled for the re-elections of the presidential seat and Raila was defeated again by Uhuru Kenyatta. This frustated the opposition party and they announced that kenyans should boycott every governmental products and services.

Due to the frustration, Miguna took a step of swearing in Raila as “The People’s President” which led to his arrest and finally he was ordered out of the country and was fled to Canada forcefully. Since then he has tried to come back to the country but he has not been successful till now.

The man with two similar names have proved to be a man of his word and actions.
