Education gives us knowledge of the world around us and changes it into something better. It develops in us a perspective of looking at life. It helps us build opinions and have points of view on things in life. As the notion goes education is the key to success. Many people value education and it has been into consideration that education is the background of child.
Education is important because it improves personal lives and helps societies run smoothly. It helps us build opinions and have points of view on things in life. The world today requires literate people.
Education being one of the big four agendas of the president, the ministry of education in the country has done to its level best to make sure that the citizen acquires affordable education and that every child in the country has been able to acquire both primary and secondary education.
As for the now, the government has launched secondary education as free. This has not yet been evident since a lot of candidates are not able to join Form 1 classes due to lack of school fees. Many incidents have been reported of children who are crying out to well-wishers so that they can be able to join high school.
It’s sad when we see this, most especially to those KCPE candidates who had performed well in their exams. Though there are some well-wishers like, Wings to fly, they cannot be able to accommodate every child who is not able to join secondary school.
Even after the president gave orders that no child who did KCPE exams is supposed to be at home, and he instructed the area chiefs to ensure that, there is still a small percentage that have not yet gone to school. Even when such orders are made, they are useless, since you as a parent will have to obey the regulations of the school and what is expected from you must be accomplished.
Since education has become as a basic need to Kenyans and it being one of the big fours, the government should ensure that it delivers its best to the publics so that we can be able to eradicate illiteracy in our country.
Many promises have been made in regard of education but none of them have been achieved yet. In year 2013, the president promised that every child joining class one will be having his/her own tablet. This promise is still a nightmare to many since only a few tablets were brought in the country to launch the project and fool people and then people were supposed to forget about them.
Launching of the new education system, the CBC, brought a lot of chaos and disagreements between the ministry of education and the teachers union KNUT, who were against it. Why were there disagreements? May be the teachers union had or has fear that the system won’t work or it will fail because it is a trend in government projects which start with a high gear but Definetly it fails. It is the hope of parents in the country that the government will be able to implement on this project so that it won’t fail.
The government should up its game in this sector since it is a crucial sector in the country. If secondary education is stated out by the ministry in conjunction with the president, then teachers should stop asking parents to pay certain fee so as their children can access the secondary education.
It is painful when candidates, who have passed with flying colors, stay at home due to lack of fees and the government is there. It is a high time that the sector of education be given a second thought. Every child should not be delayed to join high school and yet the government is there. This is a call to the government to at least do one thing in accordance.
