MODERN MARRIAGES

A covenant is an agreement between two people and it involves an agreement a promise or an oath in it. There are many covenants that are made but some of the promises made are never fulfilled. Marriage is one of the covenants made by people. And it is regarded as a covenant because when a person decides to get married there are some promises made also it is regarded as a holy covenant.
Many have chosen to defile this covenant and it has caused it to lose its meaning and value. Back then, marriages used to be respected and no one could ever defile that covenant. In the times of our great grandparents, anyone who could have defiled this covenant suffered dire consequences. Nowadays people have even lost interest in marriages and those involved in them do not adhere to the promises they made.
Cases of murder among families have increased with a high percentage. It’s either a man killing his wife and children, then kill himself, or vice versa. It has been evident that the respect which was there in marriages has been lost. There are only a very small percentage of people who are able to keep the promises and are bind by the agreement made.
Wealth, unfaithfulness, lack of understanding, patience, hypocrisy, jealousy, dictatorship, are some of the factors that have contributed to failure in marriages. Wealth has become the greatest monster because people do value money more than anything else.
In situations where the wife is the one working and she is responsible for the family needs she will disvalue the husband and start disrespecting him. Definetly this will not end well. This will cause chaos and even splitting up of the spouses. Men should be given their respect as the man of the house no matter the situation he is in, either working or not the respect of a man in the house should be maintained.
Misunderstandings are also a major cause of this. Spouses have given in, to minor things which cause disagreements among them and may lead to violence. Nowadays violence has become the solution to every problem that arises. People have decided not to sit down and discuss the matter and finally look for a solution to this. Rather than doing this, they have decided to raise voices on each other,fight,insulting one another or even killing each other.
The essence of engaging in a marriage has been lost nowadays and people are deciding to live on their own instead of encountering such problems. When one decides to get married he/she should make up his/her mind once and for all. When you decide to get married, be ready to encounter the ups and downs of being in a marriage.
People should know that marriages are not bed of roses, so there are some challenges to be encountered and in order to overcome them, it calls for; patience, understanding and most of all love. Let’s us try and bring back the sweetness of marriage and the respect of this covenant.
