Cabinet secretaries help in steering the country’s development. They are also answerable to the parliament known as the people’s representatives. They submit periodic reports to different parliamentary committees.
They are appointed by the president although they have to through vetting before they assume the office. The approvals made by the members of parliament.
There are 21 cabinet secretaries in Kenya; however the recent reshuffles have resulted to two nominees that are waiting approval by parliament. The Kenyan constitution states that the president can appoint a minimum of 14 and a maximum of 22 cabinet secretaries.
There have been changes which have been made by the president in the cabinet and they have left Kenyans with differed views and opinions. During this reshuffling, Mwangi Kiunjuri who was the minister for Agriculture was sucked.
