A MENANCE OF INSECURITY IN KENYA.

Being secure is one of the thing that an individual put into consideration. When there is no security there is no peace and order in a state. Looking at the situation in our country Kenya, there have been many incidence of insecurity. Both internally and externally.

Communities rise against other communities, receiving terror attacks, it have been a trend in our country. Alot of lives have been lost, property have been destroyed and people have sustained injuries. All this is due to the insecurities making the country ro experience tough times. Insecurity has also caused a depletion in the economy.

It all started with the Westgate Shopping Mall terror attack on September 2013 where four masked gunmen attacked the mall. 71 people died and approximately 200 others were injured. The Islamic group known as the Al-shabab claimed responsibility of the incident. Despite this the government took no action and it assumed that nothing had happened.

Kenyans thought that the government would up its game and tighten security measures, but it wasn’t like that. Another attack happened few months later after the westgate attack on June 15th to 17th 2014 at Mpeketoni. More than 60 people were killed. Again the group claimed its responsibility to the attack yet no action was taken only sending condolences to the victims.

Afterwards there have been various terrorist attacks like: the Garissa University college attack on April 2015 causing deaths of 148 people and more than 179 injured. The DusitD2 hotel attack on January 2019 causing 21 deaths and 28 injured. The Terrorism group, al-shabab, have claimed to be responsible for this attacks.

The government of Kenya have taken no action to minimize these insecurities leave alone eliminating them. Some of the erands in the country may be affected by this. For example the education operations most especially in Northen parts of the country. This is evident because of late the KNUT boss Wilson Sossion called upon all teachers in regions with insecurity to leave those places. This was due to the deaths of three tutors who were killed by terrorists in Garissa county. Definitely this will affect the education forums in those areas.

It is a high time that the government finds a permanent solution to this disaster or else the country will be facing this challenges now and then. An answer to this riddle of insecurity must be found
